Short Term Stay

At Antigua Green School, we have students who come to us from all over the world. Some stay in Antigua long-term, and others for a short period of time in order to experience the magnificence of Guatemala. We welcome you to contact us if your family is interested in joining our school for a short-term stay.

Green Camp is a bilingual day camp immersed in nature and offers a fun, adventurous, and educational experience for children and youth ages 3-18 years.

Our camp programs are aimed at exploring and enhancing environmental awareness, self-confidence, leadership, and team work through many different educative and adventurous activities, focusing on Adventure, Leadership, Gardening, Music & Arts, Permaculture, Photography, Games, Nature Studies, and Sports.

The children are given opportunities to reflect on ways they may bring their newfound insights and skills into their everyday lives, into their homes, and to the greater community as well. Our approach focuses on learning-through-experience and working together. Therefore we also work together with local companies, businesses, projects and NGOs, who work towards more environmental and community openness, awareness, and sustainability.

Today’s children are living in a world full of televisions, smartphones, and other technology that are constantly exposing them to fast-paced, digital content. They are often driven from home to school and then from one activity to the next where every second of their lives is planned and monitored by an adult.

They are living modern lives in a hyper controlled, constructed environment without the opportunity to get outside and explore our natural world. Part of the Antigua Green School philosophy is that every child, adolescent and adult should have the opportunity to interact and learn from our natural surroundings. Green Camp is designed to give children an opportunity to learn experientially, in a safe, structured and natural environment.

Only as a child’s awareness and reverence for the wholeness of life are developed can his humanity to his own kind reach its full development.  -Rachel Carson

History of Antigua

Location

ANTIGUA

An hour from the main international airport in Guatemala City, Antigua is known as the “City of Eternal Spring”. It is safe, walkable, and has a temperate climate all year around. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its colonial architecture, historic ruins, cobblestone streets, and cultural and religious traditions, the town is also host to an assortment of historic homes for rent, world-class restaurants and coffee shops, volcanoes and surrounding villages to explore, and family-friendly activities.

LA AZOTEA

Finca La Azotea, a fifth generation family-owned coffee farm nestled on the north side of Antigua, is a thriving center of nature and culture. The 70-acre finca features multiple museums dedicated to Guatemalan culture, a permaculture garden called Garden of Hope, a variety of organizations including EcoActiva, a pueblo-renowned restaurant with one of Antigua’s top chefs called Le Ferme, a equestrian center called La Ronda, and much more.
